How to Make Money with Flash Games
Instructions
Things You'll Need:
Computer
Web Editor (optional)
1
Add Advertisements to your
game
For Game Developers:
The first thing you should do
after completing your game is
add advertising to the game file
itself. It is important to do this
BEFORE ever releasing it online to
any website including your own.
The reason for this is that people
can copy your game and place it
on their site, and if you haven't
added ads before they copy it,
the ads will not show in the
version on their site, and you
won't receive credit.
To add advertisements to your
game I suggest using a
company called MochiAds. It is
free to sign up. MochiAds also
allows you to add leaderboards
(AKA highscore boards) to your
game for free and it is easy to
do. Just add one line of code to
your game. Everything is
explained in detail on their site
www.mochiads.com.
(NOTE: You typically earn $0.10-
$0.25 for every thousand plays.
This is a very solid amount
considering good games could
get over 20,000 hits a day
earning $150/month.)
For Website Owners:
You too can earn money using
MochiAds. Just sign up as a
Publisher, and add games from
their collection to your site. You
will earn 10% of the profits every
time an ad is shown in one of
the games you are hosting.
2
Find a sponsor and license your
game.
One of the quickest yet hardest
ways to make money from the
flash games you create is to find
a website who is willing to
sponsor them. With a single
sponsorship, an individual can
make anywhere from $1000-$
7000 for a game. So what is the
catch? Because there is so much
flash content being created daily,
your game has to really stand
out in order for sponsors to be
interested. The graphics and
sounds must be high-quality,
and the programming must be
fluid and flawless. Not to
mention the fact that the game
itself needs to be easy to learn
and addictive to play. If you think
you have what it takes to get a
game sponsored, here are some
sites you should check out.
AddictingGames.com
First, we have
Addictinggames.com. This is
probably the most popular flash
game website on the web. It will
be the most competitive for
trying to earn sponsorship, but it
will also yield the greatest profits.
In addition to an initial sum, it
appears you can earn money if
your game is in the top 25 for
the most hits in any given
month. See the site above for
more information and to submit
a game.
ArmorGames.com
ArmorGames.com also
sponsors games for a profit of $
1500-$7000 per game. Some
games can earn more if they are
of superior quality. See the link
above for all the information.
FlashGameLicense.com
Next, there is a little site called
FlashGameLicense.com. This is a
site dedicated to connecting
potential sponsors with
developers who are looking to
get their games licensed. Simply
sign up using the link above and
browse the site to see what it is
all about. Then submit your own
game to see who might be
interested. The average profit for
this site appears to be around $
1200.
3
Create your own website and
place ads in it.
One way to make money,
whether you make flash games
or not, is to start your own flash
game web site. To do this, I
suggest using GoDaddy.com to
purchase a domain, and use a
web editor like Kompozer to
create your web pages. Sign up
with MochiAds (see link above),
and use their games to build up
a nice inventory (this way you
can earn money from other
people's games). There are
several challenges involved with
making your own site which
include the following:
1. It requires some technical
knowledge about html coding.
2. It costs a small amount of
money.
3. There are already a great
number of flash game sites out
there. Making yours stand out
will be very difficult.
4. It takes time to keep a website
up-to-date.
If you think you are up for the
challenge go for it, and once you
have your site created, add
advertisements to it to start
earning money from your
visitors. Most people have heard
of google's AdSense. This is one
way to place ads on your site,
but I have had better luck with
other companies such as
WidgetBucks . Look around and
see what sites might work best
for you.
4
Send traffic to your site.
This is probably one of the least
effective ways to gain
recognition, but signing up for a
traffic exchange program will
help you get your site name out
and about so people will become
familiar with it. I suggest using
TrafficSwarm . This is how it
works. You open your start page
and click on a link. You have to
look at that page for 20 seconds
in order to get credit, then you
go back and click on another link,
again and again. The credits you
earn are then used to send traffic
to your site. Other people will
click your link the way you
clicked theirs. The reason this
doesn't work so great is that the
people coming to your site are
just trying to earn credits, they
may not be interested in playing
any games. But you never
know, it is worth a shot at least
at the beginning.
5
Get the word out.
Whether you chose to make a
game or to start a site, you need
to let people know about it.
Traffic exchanges are one way,
but one of the best ways is
through forums. Look for a
forum for the type of game you
have made and make a post.
Using the distribution provided
by MochiAds is a GREAT way to
earn recognition for your games.
Promoting a website is a bit
harder. Try posting flyers at
nearby colleges, adding your
website to your forum
signatures, or whatever else you
can think of. Whatever you can
do to get the word out that you
have a new game or site is the
best thing possible.

Game Programmer Information
Training
In order to prepare for a career
in game programming, most
students earn a degree in
computer science. Earning this
degree and succeeding as a
programmer require strong
math skills. Other degrees are
also acceptable, such as those in
cognitive science, physics and
electrical engineering.
Occasionally, a company will
accept applicants who do not
have a degree but who
demonstrate exceptional
capability with programming.
Duties
Most game programmers prefer
to work in a specialized field.
Some enjoy or are talented
working with sound while others
find themselves excelling in the
graphic arena. A game
programmer writes the
information a computer needs in
order to create an image or
sound or other interaction.
Normally, a team of experts will
work together to produce a
game and work with one
another until the project's
completion. Each member of a
programming team must
contribute to the final product.
Programmers may also work to
debug and identify problems
with a program.
Hazards
The hazards of game
programming mostly involve
the repetitive movement
required to type, click and
otherwise manipulate the code
for a specific game. Carpel tunnel
syndrome is a common
problem among careers that
involve excessive amounts of
typing. Fortunately, special
keyboards exist that provide a
more comfortable option for
those who spend much of their
day typing. These keyboards
separate half of the letters so that
the hands are placed on either
side of the keyboard rather than
close together in the center.
Salary
The salary for a game
programmer can vary
depending on experience, time
with a specific company and
location on the team. For
example, in 2009 a lead designer
could earn up to $99,198 per
year. A worker who has recently
entered the field with the title of
"game designer" earned between
$66,711 and $99,198 in 2009, as
reported by Michigan Jobs and
Career Portal.
Considerations
Game programming might
sound like a fun job, but it is not
for everyone. Game
programmers must be proficient
in C++, the language of
computers. This language is
mathematical, as is the career
path. A game programmer must
be able to think logically and be
comfortable working on a
computer as well as on a team
with other programmers. Those
who enjoy solving problems
and puzzles may enjoy a career
in game programming.

How to Make a Freelance Website
Instructions
1
Decide what resources you will
use to create your site. Will you
use a free page-building service
on the internet? Will you buy
your own domain and use your
own software to build the page?
Or will you commission
someone else to make a
freelance Web site for you? All of
these options can work well,
although using an online builder
is probably the quickest,
cheapest and easiest. If you do
choose an online service, make
sure that it will not put ads on
your page.
2
Start with a short biography. Try
to make it interesting and well-
written, but remember to focus
on your qualifications. If you like,
include a professional-looking
photograph.
3
Include a resume. Focus on
education and experience related
to the freelance work you are
trying to get, and especially on
any professionally published
work. If you don't have much
(or any) published work, focus
on your education, any related
jobs you have held, and any
relevant skills.
4
Make a page with at least a few
samples of your best (or most
impressively published) work.
5
Link from your resume to any
samples of work or publications
you mention that are online.
6
Add your contact information
prominently, and double-check
that it is correct.
7
Read over all your text and view
your finished product to make
sure that your freelance Web site
is free from errors.
8
When you apply for jobs or post
online for any reason, include a
link to your new freelance Web
site.

How to Profit From a Website
Instructions
1
Monetize your website with
Google AdSense.
It's free to sign up, and once you
are approved, you can start
displaying Google Ads on your
website. It only takes a few
minutes to set it up, thus you
can start earning right away. The
ads will try to match your
website content, thus increasing
the likelihood that people will click
on the ads and you will get paid.
2
Add affiliate links to your web
pages.
If you haven't done affiliate
marketing before, start with
Amazon and/or ClickBank. It's
free to sign up for both, and you
can choose from a wide variety
of products to recommend on
your website. If your links get
clicked and result in sales, you
earn commissions.
3
Get a donate button on your
website.
If you are offering valuable info
that you update frequently or a
useful program for a free
download, people might be
inclined to donate some money
to support your efforts. You can
set up a donate button through
PayPal very easily.
4
Promote your website.
If no one ever visits your
website, you won't profit from it.
Thus put some effort into getting
the word out. You can put links
in your signatures in your email
and any forums you frequent,
your social networking pages,
etc.
5
Experiment and keep learning.
Don't stop here, keep learning
about what makes money for
you and what doesn't.
Experiment with wording on
your website to see if you can
get better Google ads. See if
some affiliate products bring in
more profit than others. And
keep looking for more ways to
bring in money from your
website, you never know when
you might strike gold.

How to Make Money While Being A Student
Instructions
Things You'll Need:
Website
Software program
computer
phone
fax
1
Whether you are student looking
for extra cash or working your
way through college or high
school there are opportunities for
you to make money. Working
while attending college can help
you finance your education.
Most students find that they can
be successful in their studies
while working 10 to 15 hours per
week. Research shows that
students who work moderate
hours (10-20 hours/week) learn
to manage their time better
which can lead to improved
academic performance.
Further, being employed affords
an opportunity to enhance
fundamental skills such as
communication, time
management, customer service,
and more.
You can look for student jobs in
the federal government. These
include: summer jobs,
internships and fellowships.
There are two main types of
student employment
opportunities in the federal
government. Both offer flexible
work schedules and enable
students to work year round.
2
The Student Temporary
Employment Program (STEP)
allows students to get paid for
part-time jobs during the school
year or a summer job and it
does not need to be related to
your major.
There are University work-study
employment programs which
may be offered and/or
considered according to
availability of funds and a
student's knowledge and/or
skills.
Working on campus helps you
earn money to pay for your
educational expenses and help
students develop a sense of
community and belonging.
Internships provide an individual
with a monitored or supervised
work or service experience
where the individual has
intentional learning goals and
reflects actively on what he or
she is learning throughout the
experience.
Internships before graduation
from college are one of the most
effective ways students can
enhance their potential for
retention in a future job.
Of course you can seek
employment in other areas such
as: food service, computer
programming, maintenance,
recreation, audio/video services,
housekeeping, office, and
graphic art and many more.
My final and best
recommendation would be to
become self-employed. Work
from home in a business that
you have a passion for. Did you
know that you can turn a hobby,
talent or skill into a successful
business? However, you will
need a website.
3
Here are just a few suggestions
of the types of businesses that
you may be interested in
running from home. They
include many areas such as:
-- drawing
-- self-publishing
-- decorating
-- sewing
-- crocheting
-- collecting
-- writing
-- dog grooming
-- raising horses
-- any 'how to' site
-- resume service
-- printing
These are just a few ideas. Just
keep in mind that just about any
topic that you would like to start
a business on could be a viable
business opportunity for you!

How to Make Money Using Online Advertising
Instructions
Things You'll Need:
Computer
Internet
Website / Blog
1
Create a Website: One easy
method of getting advertising is
through a website. These days
you can create a website about
any topic that interests you.
Make sure your site contains
content that is pertinent to
current information, and insert a
service such as Google Adsense
to help generate revenue. You
can also look for a variety of
affiliates who will pay you as
people click through to their site
from your site.
2
Create a Blog: Just like the
website creation, you can create
a blog about any topic- as long
as people want to read it! Place
ads using affiliates or Adsense
and watch the money roll in.

How to Make Money Developing Software(updated)
Instructions
1
Assess your programming skills
in your area of expertise (for
example, developing computer,
Internet or mobile phone
software). List the programming
languages in which you are
adept, somewhat familiar with
and know little about. Find
resources at your local library
and on software development
websites to learn more about the
ones you know little about, and
keep the resources handy so
you can refer to them later to
check your work.
2
Produce a piece of software that
displays your programming
strengths. For example, if you
excel at PHP, design a small
website that relies on PHP. This
will serve as a sample for
prospective clients.
3
Apply to jobs that require
programming in your areas of
expertise. Sites like vWorker,
Elance and craigslist feature job
ads for software developers, as
may your local newspaper.
Estimate how long the job will
take you to complete and price
your time accordingly when you
apply, since software
development jobs often require
you to give a quote.
4
Accept every job offer you can
fit into your schedule. Require a
portion of your fee upfront to
guard against clients refusing to
pay once the work is complete.
5
Complete every job on time and
according to every detail the
client requested. Both are key to
maintaining a positive business
reputation, since your clients
may share their experiences. Use
your clients' tendency toward
word-of-mouth to your
advantage and ask for referrals.
Tips & Warnings
Avoid jobs based heavily on
programming techniques you
don't know well, since your
unfamiliarity will show in your
work. A poor job puts both your
paycheck and your professional
reputation at risk.

How to Make Money With Open Source
Instructions
1
** Ask for donations **
If your open source program is
widely used and enjoyed, some
people would be willing and
interested in giving you a
donation for your hard work.
Include a "donate" button on
your webpage as an easy way
to make money from open
source. Even if you do not get
many donations, this method
does not require much effort on
your part, so you do not have
much to lose.
2
** Include advertisements on
your download page **
Another method to profit from
open source software is by
including advertisements on
your website. You can include
Google Adwords as a quick way
to get advertisers, or you can
find advertisers yourself who
match the type of open source
software you have created.
3
** Create custom features for
companies **
Many companies who use open
source software require special
features. You can create special
features for the companies and
charge a per hour fee or a fee for
the whole project.
4
** Sell related software or
hardware **
Even if your open source
software is free, there might be
related software or hardware
that companies need in order to
use your program. You can sell
these to companies to make
money indirectly from your
open source. You can include
affiliate links to related hardware
or software on your website.
5
** Charge a maintenance fee **
While you may not be able to
actually charge for the software
you have written, you may be
able to charge users a
maintenance fee for using your
software. Your maintenance fee
could include fixing glitches or
making sure your software is
compatible with the user's
system.
6
** Charge a fee for commercial
use **
Depending on the type of open
source software, you may be
able to charge certain users for
use of your software. For
example, you can let private
users and non profit
organizations use your software
for free but charge commercial
companies for use of your
software.
7
** Gain job experience **
Another important way to make
money from open source
software is by getting
programming experience.
Creating a popular open source
project is a great way of getting
your name known and making a
good impression on a hiring
company.

How to Know if Someone Is Lying
Instructions
1
Look for body language that
might indicate someone is lying,
such as not looking you in the
eye when speaking to you, being
fidgety, or acting nervous or
uncomfortable.
2
Listen for inconsistencies in what
the person tells you, such as
different stories on different
days, different time frames,
mistakes in remembering details
or mixing up details.
3
Notice if the person steadfastly
resists answering any questions.
Extreme defensiveness could
mean that he or she is trying to
hide something.
4
Notice if the person accuses you
of lying or being deceitful when
you really haven't been. This
could reflect the other person's
own underlying behavior, which
he or she is projecting onto you
rather than owning up to it.
5
Listen to your gut and intuition.
You may just know someone is
lying. If you are not sure, don't
jump to conclusions. Try to get
some evidence to back up your
hunch.
6
Consider asking directly if the
person has lied to you. Many
people feel bad getting caught up
in lies, and find it a relief to finally
be honest.
7
Try to be understanding and
listen to the person's reasons for
lying. Was he trying not to hurt
you? Was she afraid you would
be angry, upset or disappointed?
8
Look at your possible role in
having someone lie to you. Are
you someone who gets so upset
hearing the truth that others feel
they can't be honest with you?

How to Repair Cracks in a Dashboard
Instructions
Things You'll Need:
Utility knife
Painters' tape
Silicone caulking
Vinyl paint
1
Use a utility knife to "V" cut the
crack slightly. Be careful not to
cut too much, shave away just
enough to form a "V" shape, to
allow easy application of the
silicone caulking.
2
Clean well both inside and
outside of the crack, removing all
dust and loose particles. Allow
the area to dry well before
proceeding.
3
Mask either side of the crack with
painters tape to keep the caulking
in the opening and not on the
good vinyl dashboard. Silicone
caulking dries clear, but shiny.
4
Apply the silicone caulking into
the crack and allow it to dry for
10 to 15 minutes, before
removing the tape. If the crack is
small, simply remove the tape
and allow the silicone to dry. If
the crack is larger, you can
choose to texture the silicone
using the texturizing portion of a
vinyl repair kit. It is best to
texture before removing the
tape, however you must texture
within 10 to 15 minutes, before
the silicone dries too much to
take the texture.
5
Paint larger cracks in your
dashboard with motor car vinyl
paint to reduce visibility. Allow
the silicone to dry at least two
hours before painting.

example, you can rename the file
Cool.wps to Cool.doc. Once
you've renamed it, double-click
the file and see if it will load.
3
Copy the data on the WPS file
and paste it into a new Word file.
If the data successfully pastes--
that is, it doesn't paste proper
sentences as a string of numbers
and symbols--then you can save
the file and delete the old WPS
file.
4
If you have MS Works, you can
load WPS files and save them as
either .doc or .txt files.
5
Download a WPS converter (see
resources) from Microsoft as a
last resort. This converter will
load the WPS file and prompt
you to save it as a .doc or .txt
file.
1
Double-click the WPS file. If you
are lucky, you will automatically
be prompted by Microsoft Word
to update the file to a .doc
extension.
2
Rename the file manually. Right-
click on the WPS file's icon, select
"Rename" and change the
extension manually. For
example, you can rename the file
Cool.wps to Cool.doc. Once
you've renamed it, double-click

How to Make a Crock Pot Pork Roast
Instructions
Things You'll Need:
Pork Roast - fully thawed
Bag of precut carrots
5 peeled potatoes
Three beef-flavored bouillon
cubes
1
Cut potatoes into quarters. About
8 medium sized potatoes are
enough. If you cut too many,
they won't fit in the crock pot
with the roast.
2
Place pork roast in crock pot. A
two to three pound roast is the
appropriate size. Placing it in the
refrigerator the night prior to
cooking it will thaw it.
3
Add potatoes and carrots to the
crock pot. Place them all around
the roast. This will flavor them
from the roast.
4
Add water. The water should
reach the top level inside the
crock pot. It should cover the
roast, and most of the potatoes
and carrots.
5
Drop in beef bouillon cubes.
Placed them all around the roast
and cover them completely by
water, so that they can properly
dissolve.
6
Turn on the crock pot and cook
for 6 to 8 hours, stirring
occasionally. Turn the crock pot
on before leaving the house for
work or school, and upon
returning the pork roast will be
cooked to perfection--and your
house will smell delicious!
7
When roast is tender and fully
cooked (no red drainage when
poked, barely pink in the middle)
serve and enjoy! The potatoes
and carrots should also be soft.

How to Take Minutes at a Business Meeting
Instructions
Things You'll Need:
Portable Tape Recorders
Blank Tapes
Notebook Papers
Computers
Taking Minutes
1
Obtain the meeting agenda,
minutes from the last meeting,
and any background documents
to be discussed. Consider using
a tape recorder to ensure
accuracy.
2
Sit beside the chairperson for
convenient clarification or help as
the meeting proceeds.
3
Write "Minutes of the meeting of
(exact association name)."
4
Record the date, time and place
of the meeting.
5
Circulate a sheet of paper for
attendees to sign. (This sheet can
also help identify speakers by
seating arrangement later in the
meeting.) If the meeting is an
open one, write down only the
names of the attendees who
have voting rights.
6
Note who arrives late or leaves
early so that these people can be
briefed on what they missed.
7
Write down items in the order in
which they are discussed. If item
8 on the agenda is discussed
before item 2, keep the old item
number but write item 8 in
second place.
8
Record the motions made and
the names of people who
originate them.
9
Record whether motions are
adopted or rejected, how the
vote is taken (by show of hands,
voice or other method) and
whether the vote is unanimous.
For small meetings, write the
names of the attendees who
approve, oppose and abstain
from each motion.
10
Focus on recording actions taken
by the group. Avoid writing
down the details of each
discussion.
Transcribing Minutes
1
Transcribe minutes soon after
the meeting, when your
memory of the event is still
fresh.
2
Follow the format used in
previous minutes.
3
Preface resolutions with
"RESOLVED, THAT..."
4
Consider attaching long
resolutions, reports or other
supplementary material to the
minutes as an appendix.
5
Write "Submitted by" and then
sign your name and the date.
6
Place minutes chronologically in
a record book.
