How to Make Wooden Cookie Cutters

Things You'll Need:

* Pencil
* Cut-out version of your design
* Ruler
* 1-inch thick piece of wood square
* Jigsaw
* Sandpaper
* Carving knives (optional)

Choose a simple, iconic design, like a heart or a star. Take a printout of your design and trace it onto your piece of wood using your pencil. Use the ruler to measure 1/8 inch away from your design. Trace out a second, 1/8-inch larger version of your outline. You could also print out a larger version of your design, and use that for tracing on the wood.

Use the jigsaw to cut along the inner design. Work around the outer edge of the design using the jigsaw. You should now have a 1/8-inch thick wooden design. Take your sandpaper, and sand down any raw edges of the cookie cutter.

Once the dough is chilled and rolled out, press the shaped cookie cutters into your dough.
